City of Bath Guides Paul Elliott
in front of The Royal Crescent Bath |
 |
As with all good ideas, this one started with a couple of guides
meeting in a pub. Not The George, though I have used that fine galleried
establishment on many of my London tours. No this was to be more local to
my Bath. More Great Expectations than Little Dorrit in its Dickensian
approach.
Staying with this theme I originate from Hampton, mentioned in
Oliver Twist (on the train to school with Mark Lester). Hampton was the
home of the 18th Century actor, David Garrick of Drury Lane fame. Like
him I travelled that journey to BATH, not via the theatre but via the
Admiralty. Not quite Lord Nelson.
A brief period in Reading (not the Jail, though Oscar had some great
one liners) many years ago, made me appreciate Bath's charisma even more. I
returned, Brunel's GWR, John Rennie's K&A canal or along the Roman road
Via Julia it matters not.
I'm here & I have a story to tell. So please
call me to arrange the tour guide they always remember.
Yours, Paul
Elliott

Tours of The Pump Rooms &
The Roman Baths are popular |

I have extensively travelled the UK with the MoD & sales in advertising
and the gaming industries. I can appreciate what Beau Nash was about!
This has enlightened my view of BATH & how many places worldwide have been
influenced, just by one city.
